Star Cinema already issued a statement about the said “rift” against SM Cinemas from which 45 percent of all movie tickets were being sold nationwide. According to Malou N. Santos, Managing Director of Star Cinema, “Ang Star Cinema ay mayrong collection and computation issues sa SM.” Santos also added that Star Cinema just wanted to have fair computation, fair financial distribution, and a good partnership. She also explained that the film company barely needs to have a fair share with SM. Santos still hopes that they could settle the “rift” with SM as soon as possible. “Ang nais lang naman naming ay isang win-win situation na magbibigay ng karampatang benepisyo sa Star Cinema at sa aming mga partners tulad ng SM.”
