Judy Ann Santos tax evasion case petition rejected

Multi-awarded actress Judy Ann Santos finally speaks up after her long vacation break from Cuyo, Palawan where the young superstar together with her best friend, fellow actress Beth Tamayo and Director Dante Garcia, the director of her indie movie, “Ploning” revisits the island to receive a plaque of certification proving that she is now one of the “adopted daughters” of the beautiful province.

The Cuyo Island in Palawan was the main location where the indie film “Ploning” of Judy Ann Santos was shot. According to Juday, she was very much overwhelmed on how they were treated by the Cuyonons that’s why she considers the island as her “official province” now. “We went there not only for the fiesta and for the ceremony, but of course for the screening of my indie movie, “Ploning”. The soon-to-be bride of TV host and commercial model, Ryan Agoncillo also plans to help the Cuyonon residents most specially, the Cuyo Hospital. “We also went there for medical mission that we’ll be doing in the hospital. We’ve done ocular inspection and groundbreaking there. We were able to check the basic needs of the hospital and we’ve noticed the lack of medical supplies there because the island was a bit far from the city.” The pinay celebrity was then asked about her reaction to the result presented recently by the Supreme Court rejecting her appeal to the tax evasion case that was charged on her by the Bureau of Internal Revenue. “I haven’t talked to my lawyers yet”, said Judy Ann Santos. ”But I’ll be having a meeting with them later tonight. I’ll be praying that hopefully, this will be over and whatever the verdict of the Supreme Court will be, I’ll be accepting it wholeheartedly and I’ll be respecting their opinion with regards on my case.” Judy Ann also added that she never turns her back in any of her problems ever since.

Judy Ann Santos Ploning

The award-winning actress was not neither surprised nor shocked when she heard that her appeal was junked by the Supreme Court. “The case was already there, and I’m not surprised at all because it’s already been running for two years now. I guess it’ll be more surprising if they will say that my case was already been dismissed. I’ve conditioned my mind that I have to put all these things in my system that worst things would possibly happen so that I won’t be too much depressed.” The actress also pointed out that she really has her own accountant ever since. She even expressed how her mother, Mommy Carol was deeply affected by the case she’s been into. Judy Ann Santos wishes that her case would be resolve so that her mom would eventually get peace of mind.

Although Judy Ann Santos faces difficulties right now regarding her tax evasion case, Juday at the same time celebrates with happiness as her indie film, “Ploning” was the one chosen to be the Philippine’s official entry to the prestigious 2009 Oscar Award’s best foreign language film category. “Ploning”, a film by Panorama Pictures Co. was directed by Judy Ann and Ryan’s good friend, Dante Garcia beating other local entries, Caregiver by star cinema, Tribu and Endo (both indie films). The movie, “Ploning” of Judy Ann Santos will also be having international screenings this September in SA Texas, LA and SF California.

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Van Pojas completes the top six

It was indeed a victory last Saturday for Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 scholar, Van Pojas as he completes the slot of the final top six scholars in preparation for the upcoming Grand Dream Night two weeks from now. The 18 year old “Cebu Heartthrob” of Talisay City was the one chosen by the viewing public to be saved from expulsion against his good friend inside the academy, Hansen Nichols.

Van Pojas collected a total of 54.58 percentage of text votes while his rival, Hansen Nichols earned only a total of 45.42 percentage of votes from the viewing public. The “Cancer Survivor” who grew up in California, USA gave all his best while performing the song that he personally chose, “His Eye is on the Sparrow” by Lauryn Hill. Although, the Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 jurors that night, Louie Ocampo and guest judge Girlie Rodis (a talent manager), sensed a bit of Hansen’s shaky nerves due to the song’s touching message, they still praised and congratulate him for a well-done performance. Likewise with Hansen Nichol’s fellow probationary scholar, Van Pojas who sang his emotional rendition of Casting Crown’s “Who I Am?” received an impressive feedback from the jurors.

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Scholar Van Pojas

Right after the individual performances of the remaining 7 Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 scholars, Toni Gonzaga once again welcomed them on stage as the scholars launched their first ever recorded album entitled, “Scholars Sing Cayabyab” a compilation of headmaster, Mr. Ryan Cayabyab’s own composition of songs that was interpreted by the scholars in which, all of the proceeds of the album and their upcoming mall shows will be donated to the chosen charitable institutions of the scholars. After their group performance, Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 host, Toni Gonzaga finally revealed the scholar who made it to be part of the top six where she declared Van Pojas as the one who completed the final slot. Hansen Nichols thought at first that he was the one who was saved by the public (based on his reaction when Toni announces the result. Maybe due to the tensional moment, he misheard what Toni said.) Van Pojas embraced Hansen tightly as sign of their solid friendship formed inside the academy and also, ‘goodbye’ as for the meantime.

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Scholars

Six remaining scholars will battle for only one title, the Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Grand Star Dreamer two weeks from now. Who among Liezel Garcia, Jay “Bugoy” Bugayon, Miguel Mendoza, Chris Pastor, Laarni Losala and Van Pojas will follow Yeng Constantino’s success?

Who do you think deserves to be the Grand Star Dreamer? Their future lies in your hands so vote now for your favorite scholar! It’s going to be a head to head battle for the top six scholars of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.

Update on Eraserheads vocalist Ely Buendia after the reunion concert

Ely Buendia, former frontman of the most influential band of the 90’s, the Eraserheads was brought to The Medical City in the middle of their reunion concert last night in The Fort, Bonifacio Global City Taguig due to his heart illness.

Over 60, 000 people witnessed the historic and memorable concert event of the year as the band reunites for the first time after breaking up last 2002. Eraserheads original members, Ely Bundia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro started the reunion concert at 8:30 PM which was supposed to start at 8:00 PM. (this is just a very common situation in every concert event, I understand!) Eraserheads started to heat up the night without any further introduction, spiels or front acts with their first song, “Alapaap”, backed up with a dazzling fireworks display. The group performed 15 of their chart topping hits, “Toyang”, “With a Smile”, “Harana”, “Hey Jay”, “Huwag Mo Nang Itanong”, “Kailan”, “Sembreak”, “Torpedo”, “Shake Your Head”, “Fruitcake” and other signature songs.

The Eraserheads consistently performed their remarkable hits as thousands of fans inside the concert venue definitely enjoyed the night. After successfully doing the first set of the reunion concert at 9:30 PM, they had an announcement that they will be having a 20 to 30 minute break before proceeding to their second set of performance. It was already 10:10 PM when only three of the members, Raymund, Buddy and Marcus returned to the stage without the vocalist, Ely Buendia. Everyone sensed a bit of tension when Marcus Adoro, lead guitarist of the band introduced Ely’s younger sister, Lally Buendia on stage. Lally expressed how thankful they are for all the people who supported the reunion concert of the Eraserheads that night. Unfortunately, she asked for an apology to everyone for an unexpected thing happened to his brother Ely.” We regret to inform you that due to my brothers’ poor health, the emotional and physical stress that he’s been experiencing, we apologize for cutting the concert short. My brother Ely had to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention.” The concert producer, Radiohead Media Solutions Inc. also extended his apology and asked for prayers from the audience. All of the fans dearly understood the emergency happened to Ely Buendia. They did not even teased, shout for dismayed, or showed any violent reaction after hearing the sad news but instead, they just left the concert venue sadly.

It was also confirmed that Eraserheads former vocalist, did not undergo any bypass operation last night unlike to the reports that had spread out. Speculations were formed that Ely Buendia was already in a safe condition but until now, there was no formal statement released from the family of the famous Eraserheads vocalist. Fans are still waiting if the Eraserheads reunion concert will be having a repeat.

Eraserheads vocalist Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital during reunion concert

Eraserheads former lead vocalist, Ely Buendia was reportedly rushed to the hospital just a few hours ago in the middle of their reunion concert in The Fort, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

According to the source, the 38 year old singer and song- writer known as the founder of the popular OPM rock band of the 90’s looked woeful while performing on stage with the rest of his former bandmates. Some of the audience even noticed the hoarseness of his voice while singing their first set in the reunion concert. Ely Buendia with his fellow Eraserheads members, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro performed 15 of their hits before the group was set to have their 30 minute break. But unfortunately, 40 minutes had passed and there was no Ely Buendia who had appeared on stage to perform their second set of songs. Instead, Ely’s younger sister surprisingly announced the audience that his brother could no longer finish the reunion concert because he was rushed to the hospital due to his heart illness.

Eraserheads reunion concert pushes through

The well-loved OPM rock band of all time, the Eraserheads reunion concert still pushes through tomorrow, August 30, at the open air venue of The Fort, Taguig City despite of all the rumors that had spread out days ago due to some difficulties involving the major sponsor of the one night event that alarmed thousands of fans of the legendary band.

Eraserheads Pics

Phillip Morris’ was supposed to be the major sponsor of the Eraserheads reunion concert this coming Saturday, but unfortunately, the giant tobacco company had to pulled out their involvement with the said concert due to some legal matters that they’ve been facing. The Department of Health cited that if Phillip Morris’ will continue to push through the sponsorship with the reunion concert, they will have no choice but to take some legal actions against the company. In a press conference made by the health undersecretary Alexander Padilla, he explained the reason why they warned the company that they might not get a permit from the authorities if they will continue to sponsor the event. He cited that according to the Republic Act No. 9211 known as the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003, where the law strictly prohibits any involvement of all tobacco companies to sponsor any cultural and artistic events or sports of performers, artists and individual or team athletes. Upon hearing the said threats from DOH, Phillip Morris’ immediately responded to the warning and looked for another potential sponsor for the reunion concert to be possible.

Fortunately, another party saved the much anticipated Eraserheads reunion concert and it was Radiohead Media Solutions Inc. the company formally announced their sponsorship with the event in cooperation with Sony-BMG Music Entertainment, former home label of Eraserheads. Now, the bad news on this part is that the concert is no longer for free unlike before when it was still under the sponsorship of Phillip Morris’, fans will just have to log-in on red nation site and wait for their confirmation. On the other hand, Raymund Marasigan, drummer of the Eraserheads announces the good news to the fans that they will now allow children from 12 years of age. He also informed the public that the ticket price ranges from P800 for the General Admission and P1, 300 for Patron.

Eraserheads was a prominent OPM band of the 90’s who made history in the Philippine music industry for their critically-acclaimed hits, Ang Huling El Bimbo, Pare ko, Toyang, With a Smile, Alapaap and a lot more. The fab four composed of Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro disbanded in the year 2002 when the front man of the group, Ely texted his band mates with a word, “It’s graduation time!”

It’s going to be a historic and memorable one night event for all the fans who’ve waited them reunite for the past six years after parting their own ways. Ding Dong emotionally expressed, “I’m so happy and very thankful to all the fans who came tonight even though they still have classes tomorrow, and the weather is a bit bad, Marian and I were very much thankful to them for celebrating with us on our birthday and, for those people who failed to watch us live here in Araneta, you could still watch this birthday concert on Sunday, August 31 in GMA 7.” Ding Dong and Marian also added that everything that they’ve done in the concert was all for fun. “Even though we had a very tiring week to practice the entire dance steps, it’s still worth it because we are all doing this for our fans that’re always been there to support us.” Marian replied.

Unexpectedly, one of her birthday wishes was granted that night when her Spanish Father, Mr. Francisco Javier Alonzo Gracia gave a heartwarming recorded message to her daughter, Marian. The pinay celebrity couldn’t help but cry when she heard the voice of her father whom she haven’t seen for five long years now. “I guess, a lot of you don’t know about my family. I really missed my papa so much! I really love him even though I don’t get to see him. I’m so happy that I was able to hear his voice.” Ding Dong Dantes was hugging Marian Rivera when the actress was explaining while crying out of happiness.

Marian Rivera was not the only one who got a birthday surprise that night. Ding Dong Dantes had a big shock when Dan Railey, executive producer of E! Entertainment greeted him via video interview. KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez parents got disappointed with GMA 7

Megastar Sharon Cuneta, mother of KC Concepcion and the very controversial mother of Richard Gutierrez, “monster mom” Annable Rama expressed their disappointments with GMA 7 on the latest taped episode of the talk show,  “SHARON” aired last August 24 on ABS-CBN.

KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez pics

The controversial issue started when GMA 7 produced a free birthday concert for fellow Kapuso stars of Richard Gutierrez and Dyesebel lead stars, Marian Rivera and Ding Dong Dantes. The post-birthday blowout of the hottest love team was scheduled today, August 27, 7:00 PM at the Araneta Coliseum which also happened to be the first showing date of “For the First Time”, the first movie of KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez under the rival network of GMA 7, Star Cinema, ABS-CBN’s own production outfit.

Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion were Sharon Cunetas’ special guests on the taped episode of the show “SHARON” last Sunday to promote their movie, “For the First Time”. The viewers of the show were expecting that it was just a simple promotion of the movie. In the middle of the conversation with KC and Richard, Sharon introduced another surprised guest in the show and it was Richard’s mom and manager, Annable Rama. It was then the start of bursting out their disappointments with Richard’s mother network, GMA 7. On the first round of the interview, Sharon told Annable that she really liked Richard a lot, she even praised the young actor because of his good looks and mentioned the big amount of money that he’s putting into the hands of his own network (referring to GMA 7). “Annable answered in a sarcastic way, “Hindi yata napapansin sa kabila na marami nang inakyat na pera si Richard sa kaban ng GMA.”  Sharon then admitted that she was also hurt and surprised when she heard that the birthday concert was set on the same date with the first showing day of her daughter’s movie. “Ako din Tita, hindi ko alam kung sino ang nag-arrange nun, dahil marami pa naman ang kaibigan natin doon, pero hindi ko alam kung sino mismo. Parang sinabayan yata ng libreng show?”

Annabel also added that the said birthday concert was intentionally set by GMA 7 without thinking wisely. KC Concepcion immediately shouted, “World peace! World Peace!” to slow down the boiling tempers of Sharon and Annabel while Richard Gutierrez, covers his face with a pillow. Annabel Rama and Sharon Cuneta couldn’t stop by their children by vocally expressing their disappointments with GMA 7. Sharon assures Richard that ABS-CBN will definitely take good care of his career and guaranteed full support to Richard all the way. KC Concepcion did not give any negative statements while tackling about the issue. She even thanked GMA 7 for lending Richard Gutierrez to Star Cinema to do the movie, “For the First Time” that KC really appreciated.

KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez pics

At the end of the interview, Sharon and Annabel were still throwing their emotions about the free post-birthday concert of Marian Rivera and Ding Dong Dantes which is a one night event only compared to the movie of KC and Richard that can be shown for about two to three weeks in cinemas nationwide. Does this proves that KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez showed much ‘breeding’ to the public that night than their moms?Just asking folks!

KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez teams up For the First Time

Mega daughter KC Concepcion and one of the treasured gems of GMA 7, Richard Gutierrez teams up for a feel-good romantic movie produced by star cinema, “For The First Time” which will be shown this coming Wednesday, August 27.

For the first time, KC Conception had made her move to do her very first film as an actress choosing the prince of the rival network, Richard Gutierrez as her first leading man in the movie that was shot entirely in the historical country, Greece. KC and Richard couldn’t help but praise the place where they made their very first film together. “The place was great and refreshing” as KC defined Santorini, Greece. Richard and KC, together with the rest of the staff travelled for about 23 hours to get there in Greece, even though the flight was a bit tiring for them, it all paid off when they get to see the wondrous of the whole place, they were so amazed and mesmerized to the location that it was surrounded with powdered white rocks and glamorous blue sea. “It was indeed a virgin location because no other Filipino artists or celebrities had been there to shoot” says KC Concepcion. A lot of Filipinos were so happy and surprised when they’ve been visited by two of the most sought-after young stars of the country. “The people were great and lovely, they were showing their appreciation when we had our kissing scenes in the film, they were clapping! It was such a great experience to be there!” Richard Gutierrez added.

KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez For The First Time Pics

It was also the first time that KC Concepcion had her first kiss on screen that’s why the mega daughter was a bit shy to do it in front of so many tourists in Santorini Greece. “I don’t know what to do at first, I was so scared not just in front of the camera but of course, to those people who’re watching us. But when we finished the take, it was such a big relief and I was able to breathe well.” KC explains.

Both KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez shared a lot of their first time together. Aside from the fact that this is KC’s first ever film, it was also the first time of Richard Gutierrez to do a movie under Star Cinema, a production outfit of ABS-CBN after allowing by his mother network, GMA 7 to do this first teamed up with  Kapamilya star, KC Concepcion. The rumored ‘lovers’ will also be having their follow up movie together this coming February as their Valentine movie offer for 2009 that will be produced by GMA Films to be directed by Joey Reyes.

Joyce Bernal and will be shown on August 27, Wednesday.

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 10th Gala Night Goodbye Iñaki Salvador!

The “stage performer”, Iñaki Salvador was the scholar who got expelled from Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 10th gala performance night. The 19 year old Iñaki from Makati City, who had just recently celebrated his birthday inside the academy together with fellow probationary scholar Miguel Mendoza, had failed his dream to be part of the top six scholars in the upcoming finals night of the search.

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Scholar Iñaki Salvador

The “Romantic Crooner”, Miguel Mendoza earned the majority of the votes by having 75.97 percentage of the total text votes while, Iñaki Salvador garnered only 24.03 percentage of the total text votes from the viewing public. Aside from Iñaki, another dreamer bids farewell to Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 and it was the honorary scholar, Poy who ended her successful journey inside the academy. Unfortunately on her last attempt, Poy once again failed to grab the star scholar title and her dream to become one of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 finalists.

Jay Bugayon, a.k.a. Bugoy, once again stunned resident judges, Louie Ocampo, Gerard Salonga and guest judge, Dulce on his celebrity duet performance, “Muli” with Vina Morales. Bugoy as expected, bagged the star scholar title for this week because of his magnificent vocal performance on Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 10th gala night.

Meanwhile, another twist had just been added to the probation process in the Academy. Instead of having bottom four in the line up, only two scholars who received the lowest grade based on their performance on the 10th gala night will battle for this week. This time, no more bottom four was declared and the chance of being saved by the mentors and co-scholars was also dismissed from now. Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 host, Toni Gonzaga announced Hansen Nichols and Van Pojas as the official bottom two for this week garnering final grades of 7.29 and 7.3 as the result of their performances with their celebrity partners that night.

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Scholars Van Pojas and Hansen Nichols

Between the best buds Hansen and Van, who among them will have the chance to be part of the final six? Who do you think deserves to stay inside the academy and whose’ next to go after Iñaki Salvador? Is it the “Cebu Heartrob” Van? Or the “Cancer Survivor” Hansen? There’s only three weeks to go before the grand showdown, so better vote now for your favorite scholar in Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.
